Key Sounds Studio is now offering Ultimate Music Theory Club!!! Join me, Stacy Cole, for a 1 hour Theory club class weekly to develop a stronger understanding of music using games, activities, and a fun workbook to create a strong foundation of learning Music in a group setting. From Kindergarten to grandparents, we have a class for you! Each Level consists of 12 Units with constant review and reinforcement of ideas to help students lock in concepts as they move through the different levels.

"ABCs of Theory" - This Club Class is for very new beginner students and uses the piano keyboard as a way to reinforce a lot of the introductory ideas of music: high/low sounds, stepping, skipping, note reading, finger strengthening skills etc. Students ranging from the ages of 5-8 with limited understanding of music would benefit from this club class. After completing the “C” Level, students will “Graduate” into the Prep Level 1 Club!

"Preparatory Level 1" - This beginning level is a great start for an older student (age 9-12) with limited musical knowledge. We will explore the keyboard to build an understanding of high/low sounds, basic note reading on the Treble and Bass Clef, simple rhythms and pulsing. All of which will establish a solid foundation that will prepare the students for Preparatory Level 2. Once complete, students will “graduate” with a certificate and move into the Preparatory 2 Club

"Preparatory Level 2" - Students starting at this level will need a foundational understanding of the topics covered in Preparatory 1. Students can “graduate” into this book or start their UMT journey here! Concepts begin with knowledge of the full Grand Staff, dotted rhythms, Major/Minor Scales, etc. Completing this Level establishes a clear foundation for the Basic Rudiments Club; preparing students for Royal Conservatory Level 4 and 5 written exams.

"Basic Rudiments" - This Class prepares students to understand and, potentially, write a Level 4 or 5 Royal Conservatory Theory exam. Supplemental materials are used to ensure all Melody Writing and History components are covered in preparation for these exams. Students who finish this Level "Graduate" to the Intermediate Rudiments Club

"Intermediate Rudiments" - This class prepares students for Level 6 and 7 Royal Conservatory written exams (supplemental material is used to ensure all Melody Writing and History components are covered in preparation for these exams). Students who complete this level "Graduate" to the Advanced Rudiments Club.

"Advanced Rudiments" - This class prepares students for their Level 8 Royal Conservatory written examinations (using supplemental material to ensure that all Melody Writing and History components are covered in preparation for this exam). Students would be expected to have a solid knowledge of notes, key signatures, Major/Minor scales, Intervals, etc.

"Complete Rudiments" - If you have a student who has never done any theory but would like to complete the Level 8 Royal Conservatory Level in a short time I recommend the Complete Rudiments Club which begins at the Basic Level and works through the Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced levels within the same course building off of the basics and adding the complex concepts as we move through the course. This course is good for High School age students who have some background with playing an instrument of some kind.
